โ€” My story

I get it!

Suffering from several chronic illnesses took me from an active life to a rather sedentary potato-like existence, which resulted in a weight increase of 4 st/25.4 kg.

Despite formally being a fitness professional, life happened and now I suffer from several chronic illnesses leaving me disabled. This means I have little ability to exercise as this exacerbates my symptoms. Over time, with low mood and coming to terms with my new life, I gained 4 stone and lost muscle mass.

I’ve challenged myself to lose this extra weight through the ketogenic diet. I’m sharing my experience, knowledge and journey to hopefully encourage others because I get it! I am confident that despite disabilities and getting into a rut of obesity, with the right support and information everyone can take back control, gain better help and grow in confidence.

It may sound ridiculous, but the turning point for me was when my thighs started chafing! Add to that the general feeling of being huge, not feeling comfortable in anything apart from loose tops and leggings and an already intense feeling of guilt for eating junk, I knew things had to change.

With qualifications in health and fitness, I felt even more that I was robbing myself of my healthier version. I knew how to get healthy but in the self-pity of adjusting to my new life with chronic illnesses, I simply didn’t have the motivation or capacity to watch what I was eating. I am still trying to get through every day like everyone else, but I figure my every day might be improved by carrying less weight and creating a healthier lifestyle for myself.

I don’t use AI to create my content; it is solely my ramblings, so my blog will be an authentic place to share and, hopefully, encourage. It won’t be perfect, and my use of commas will be interesting as I still don’t understand them, but I hope somewhere here, something will help others. It will also take me time to build up my posts, as I am a busy mum, facing the challenges of disability. So hang tight, and I’ll try to complete new content each week.
